Becky Sue Sweet Bread

Total Time: 24 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 24 hrs Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs

Recipe

  • 1 combine 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
  • 2 stir well and add soft butter.
  • 3 add hot tap water all at once.
  • 4 beat with mixer at high speed for 1 minute. stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
  • 5 turn out on floured board in a ball. knead 5-10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  • 6 cover with plastic wrap and a towel and let rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • 7 punch down.
  • 8 divide dough in half and shape each into a braid.
  • 9 place in two greased 9 inch cake pans.
  • 10 brush surface of dough with salad oil.
  • 11 cover pans loosely with plastic wrap.
  • 12 refrigerate 2-24 hours.
  • 13 when ready to bake, remove from fridge, uncover and let stand 10 minutes.
  • 14 bake at 375°f for 30-35 minutes.
  • 15 remove from pan and immediately brush with butter.
