Ingredients

- 5 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 eggs
Recipe
- 1 combine 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
- 2 stir well and add soft butter.
- 3 add hot tap water all at once.
- 4 beat with mixer at high speed for 1 minute. stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
- 5 turn out on floured board in a ball. knead 5-10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
- 6 cover with plastic wrap and a towel and let rest for 15-20 minutes.
- 7 punch down.
- 8 divide dough in half and shape each into a braid.
- 9 place in two greased 9 inch cake pans.
- 10 brush surface of dough with salad oil.
- 11 cover pans loosely with plastic wrap.
- 12 refrigerate 2-24 hours.
- 13 when ready to bake, remove from fridge, uncover and let stand 10 minutes.
- 14 bake at 375°f for 30-35 minutes.
- 15 remove from pan and immediately brush with butter.
